Dr. Rose Alenyo is a Senior Lecturer at the College of Health Sciences, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda and based at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital where she plays a pivotal role in training and running of the country’s only major burns center. Dr. Alenyo is a passionate advocate for enhancing burn care access to children and women who suffer burns due to domestic violence. She has been actively campaigning for the establishment of a skin bank and a dedicated burns ICU to better serve patients in need.
In addition to her clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Alenyo serves as the current Panel Chair for Plastic Surgery Training in the region under the College of Surgeons for Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa (COSECSA), representing 14 member states.
Dr. Alenyo has been involved in numerous community outreach initiatives since 2003, focusing on providing free surgical interventions for children with conditions such as cleft lip and palate, post-burn contractures, and pediatric hernias. Through these efforts, she is making a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable populations in Uganda.
Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Alenyo is a dedicated housewife and mother of four. She is also a potential Ph.D. candidate, reflecting her continued pursuit of knowledge and excellence in her field.
