Marije Gordinou de Gouberville

Marije Gordinou de Gouberville (MD) worked for two years in Tanzania in a tertiary hospital with limited resources, on the surgical ward. She noticed that on-the-job teaching is a pleasant method, and the personal interaction is meaningful. On the other hand she was shocked by the inequity in access to surgical care over the world, having worked in other places like Haïti and Zambia as well. She is now an oncological surgeon in the Netherlands, and a fighter for sustainability and the Green OR. Also she is president of Netherlands Society for International Surgery (NSIS), whose members advocate for Global Surgery and organize collaboration and teaching in many ways.
