Leonie Mothes is a fourth-year medical student, based in Dresden, Germany, with a passion for global surgery. She has been enrolled in the medical study programme of Rīgas Stradiņs University and the Technical University of Dresden.
Since 2023, she has been actively involved with the German Society for Global and Tropical Surgery (DTC), contributing to organizing the European Congress on Global Surgery. Leonie has gained valuable hands-on experience in global surgery and cross-cultural health through her work at the Heritage Hospital in Varanasi, India, and the Zomba Central Hospital in Malawi. Her dedication to advancing surgical care on a global scale is evident in her commitment to both practical experience and academic engagement.
