Nóra Zergi (MD) has attended medical school in Debrecen, Hungary, and done her specialty training in anesthesia at Semmelweis University in Budapest as well as different university hospitals in Oslo, Tromsø and Bergen. Nora currently works as specialist in anesthesia and critical care at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway. Her main area of expertise there is pediatric anesthesia. However, her Norwegian patients have for years shared their anesthesiologist with patients in some of the world’s conflict zones (Yemen, Sudan, Central Africa, Afghanistan, Ukraine), where she went on missions with Doctors Without Borders. Within the organization she has been an outspoken proponent of training local staff. Her challenge has always been the interface between emergency humanitarian work and sustainable health systems. Nora strongly believes in capacity building through networking between HIC and LMIC actors.
